Near the southernmost edge of Staten Island and figurative end of New York City (at Arthur Kill Road and Rossville Avenue) there is a former boatyard where old ferries, tugboats, barges, and skiffs of decades past linger in a state of decomposition and rust while they wait their turn to sink. What drew me to these wrecks is their strength and fragility that I can fully identify to. As their layers return to nature, the splendor of their being prevails.
